"Cool The Earth" Campaign

July 28 2016

Students made pledges via "Cool the Earth" campaign earlier in the year that included pledging to take shorter showers, encouraging parents to change light bulbs to energy efficient ones, and wearing layers instead of turning the heater on "high" to conserve energy and heat.

Summary

The students completed the following tasks for classroom certification:

  1. Students performed an energy assessment of their classroom using draft detectors and Kill-A-Watt Meters.
  2. Students reviewed classroom energy assessment and revisited efforts that they took at home to conserve energy and heat.
  3. Students made  pledges via "Cool the Earth" campaign earlier in the year that included pledging to take shorter showers, encouraging parents to change light bulbs to energy efficient ones, and wearing layers instead of turning the heater on "high" to conserve energy and heat.

CO2e reduction calculations were based on the reduction and prevention of the classroom computer and monitor from using phantom loads.

Metrics

2.97024 kiloWatt hours of Electricity Conservation between April 24th 2013 and June 7th 2013
Results: 2 lbs CO2e emmissions avoided
