Action Project:
Classroom Visit and Certificate Presentation for Waste
Brief Description of the Project
The classroom teacher invites a County of San Mateo RecycleWorks Program representative, or another representative from a different government or nonprofit agency, to the classroom to learn about the students’ efforts to reduce waste and increase recycling.
Full Project Description
Students share their experiences of doing the waste assessment, taking action, and the lessons learned.
The representative may also present the class with the Green Star Schools (GSS) Classroom Certificate in Waste Reduction to recognize all of the students’ accomplishments with “greening” their classroom, school, and community-at-large.
During this time, the teacher and students can post and share photographs and videos of the classes’ work to the GSS website and social media.
