Planning to Green the Taylor Campus

May 28 2020

All the action projects for the 2019-20 school year focused on different ways to mitigate climate change by reducing carbon emissions through improvement of waste programs on campus.

Summary

During the 2019-2020 school year, students at Taylor Middle School did their part to reduce CO2 emissions.  Through expanding the recycling program on campus as well as adding organics collection, students helped divert organics and recyclables from the waste stream; the students instituted a tri-bin system in the cafeteria to collect organics and recyclables and they utilized worm bins in science classrooms for organic scraps.  They also established a Utensil-free Wednesdays program to reduce the amount of plastic waste from utensils going to landfills.
