Summary

In the 2018-19 school year, parents and staff at George Hall had embarked on and completed a few exciting projects. One, a local Eagle Scout troop had recently built a number of gardening boxes in front of the upper grade classrooms on the school grounds. Two, the OOS Community Gardens program provided funding that enabled the school community to add more gardening boxes and 2 on-site garden compost bins. Three, the Trash Train, a kids' wagon revamped to hold trash bins, was regularly brought to school during lunch hours so that kids could voluntarily pick up litter around school in a fun engaging way. And four, in 2019, George Hall parents reached out to the Schools Program to help support their new goals of reducing and diverting organic waste from breakfast, recess and lunch waste. All of this work was the result of dedicated parents, community, staff and administrative support and set the stage for 2019/2020 waste reduction goals.
