How are we doing?March 9 2020 Worm compost and waste diversion SummaryStudents are continuing to feed food scraps to our worms and we collect paper towels for composting in the classroom. The biggest difference is in the education we provided to all students at our school to correctly sort their snack and lunch waste. We weighed the landfill garbage after snack before our training and it was 19kg. We went outside and weighted the landfill bin and found it to weigh just over 7kg! What a difference. When we opened the sacks and inspected, students had sorted most items correctly. The compost and recycle bins were full, and landfill was almost nothing! In the classroom, my landfill bin is down to less than 1/4 full, and the recycling is almost full every day.
