Action Plan

May 20 2020

Based on their assessment of student generated waste at school and in their classroom, Ms. Gonzales's students developed a plan for taking action.

Summary

Based on their assessment of student generated waste at school and in their classroom, Ms. Gonzales's students developed a plan for taking action. This plan for taking action was also based on the following essential questions / classroom discussions: 1) How can we and why should we reduce our waste? 2) What is the impact of landfills on the oceans? 3) How much food waste are we creating in our classroom?"

Students decided that they would increase recycling and start composting in the classroom. Additionnally, they wanted to stop wasting uneaten food especially breakfast food. Therefore, they decided to save uneaten food to be eaten at another time or compost via classroom worm composting bin. Also, Ms. Gonzales's students decided to educate other students in school about reducing waste from going to the landfill.
