Improving sorting and composting at Aragon

December 28 2020

The OOS Schools Team came and worked with Ms. Valera’s class to set up their worm bin. The students learned the science of vermicomposting, met the red wiggler worms and learned how to care for their new worm bin and which scraps are best. After that, the students began to feed the worms with fruit and vegetable scraps each week.

Summary

Working closely with Aragon students from the district task force, Ms. Valera and the team used the Waste Reduction & Recycling Program Assessment Form and also conducted an extensive walkthrough. This data was used to develop the outreach and plan to improve bins and sorting on campus.
