Leftover Salad Gets Second Life as Compost

June 5 2020

Each week we diverted about 1 bucket of salad bar scraps and created new soil for our school.  

Summary

In addition to diverting salad bar scraps, fifth graders also taught lower grade classes about composting and why it is important.

Metrics

TheCompost Club diverted 12 lbs of clean greens from the cafeteria each week.

108 Pounds of Compostables Diverted from School Waste Stream between January 6th 2020 and March 13th 2020
Results: 1,043 lbs CO2e emmissions avoided
