Endangered Animals and Environmental Heroes Slideshows Part 1 (Step 3)

June 8 2016

Fourth graders at Lomita Park School cleaned up their school to help protect the vulnerable endangered species living near the school. They used slideshow presentations to get other students to join in the effort to clean up and reduce waste at the school.

Summary

My 4th grade class participated in the the Coastal Clean Up in September. We coordinated the four upper grade classes in a clean up effort at our school and tallied all the trash that we found. We then looked at the trash/recycling effort in our own lunches and classroom. We heard from guest speakers from the Tuolumne River Trust and the San Francisco International Airport about human impact on the environment and what we can do to help the endangered species in our area. The students decided to create slideshow presentations to deliver to the rest of the school asking everyone to be more careful with trash. Since their presentations in November, our campus has been markedly cleaner.
